Awaken Your Church to Reach Its Evangelistic Potential

Inspire and equip everyone in your church with a process of sharing their faith that is so simple and effective, even the “non-evangelists” will say, “Wow, I can do this!”

Get Started

“Evangelism—the way Jesus did it”

The strategy behind the OneLife approach is the 3D1 Model of personal evangelism.

3D1 is a fresh new approach to personal evangelism that shows Christians how to build bridges of trust with their non-Christian family and friends, to listen and understand where they’re coming from, and to gently and respectfully guide them in their search for spiritual truth.

Christians hearing about 3D1 for the first time often say, “This sounds like the way Jesus would do evangelism. I can do this!”

  • Natural and “organic”—3D1 starts by building deep, authentic relationships with non-Christians. When that bridge of trust is strong, meaningful spiritual conversations happen naturally.
  • Respectful and caring—The 3D1 model was discovered through more than 30 years of face-to-face interviews and interactions with spiritual explorers. 3D1 doesn’t treat non-Christians as projects with targets on their backs. Non-Christians *want* to be heard and understood, and they sincerely welcome the kind of spiritual conversations that result from this process.
  • Accessible for EVERY Christian—Very few Christians have the gift of evangelism. 3D1 was specifically designed for the “average” Christ-follower. And these principles have been successfully implemented by thousands of Christians over the years.
  • Effective—A study of small groups implementing the 3D1 principles found that 80% of non-Christians who stayed in the “spiritual discovery” groups eventually crossed the line of faith.

What will OneLife do for your church?

In the OneLife program, you and your leadership will receive personalized, hands-on coaching to instill a “culture of evangelism” within your church.

You’ll watch as your members begin to experience for themselves the joy of seeing their non-Christian friends and family make a 180-degree turn in their spiritual journey.

This excitement is contagious—you’ll see the “evangelism temperature” of your church rise as members encourage one another with their OneLife stories.

And best of all, your members will maintain their enthusiasm for the long term, because 3D1 and the OneLife approach have become part of your church’s DNA.

This happens in three steps:

1. Create “behind-the-scenes” momentum with senior leadership

A core tenant in OneLife is:

Leading by example.

How can you expect your members to do something that you, as their leaders, aren’t demonstrating in your own lives?

So before rolling out 3D1 and OneLife to the entire church, you and your leadership team will receive intensive, hands-on coaching in modeling effective personal evangelism from nationally recognized evangelism specialist Garry Poole and the OneLife team.

You’ll lay a foundation of prayer and planning for the year to come.

Then you and your entire staff will receive hands-on training in what’s working in evangelism right now.

You’ll learn the principles of the 3D1 Model and begin applying them with your own circle of friends and family.

You’ll identify “evangelism champions” on your leadership team, launch spiritual discovery groups for non-Christians, and begin having 3D1 spiritual conversations with those around you who don’t yet know Christ.

Going through these steps with your leadership team will raise your passion level.

And your demonstrated willingness to lead by example and prove that this approach works will speak volumes to your members—and they’ll quickly catch your enthusiasm.

2. Get your members fired up and “in the game”

In the second phase, the OneLife Advisors team will assist you in rolling out 3D1—transferring the vision and enthusiasm that you and your leadership team to the rest of your church members.

It begins with a 7-week sermon series in which you’ll cast the vision for the 3D1 principles, share stories about what you and your leadership team have done to put 3D1 into practice, and let them in on what God has done through you in the lives of your non-Christian family and friends.

This is a paradigm shift moment for your members. They’ll say, “Wow, I never thought of evangelism that way… I can do this!”

They’ll get excited and want to learn more.

The series includes with a highly unusual “message”: A panel discussion where non-Christians from your community share where they are in their spiritual journey, and describe their experiences interacting with Christians about spiritual matters—both positive and negative. This discussion, which may sound nerve-wracking at first, is actually the highlight of the entire series. Your members’ hearts will break with compassion when they hear the stories of their non-Christian neighbors. And any fear they may feel will be pushed aside when they’ll see that non-Christians actually welcome spiritual discussions when approached in the context of real, caring relationships.

By the end of this series, your members will be fired up—and ready to “get in the game.”

Then your church members will receive rigorous training in the 3D1 Model, including how to find non-Christians who are open to spiritual conversations, how to build deep, authentic friendships with them, and how to let the Holy Spirit guide their interactions. They’ll also learn some foundational apologetics principles so they’re prepared to engage the questions that their non-Christian friends will raise.

Coming out of this initial church-wide “launch,” your members will clearly see that evangelism is their individual privilege and responsibility—and they’ll feel thoroughly equipped and empowered to step into this role.

They’ll also gain confidence from the clear, simple and effective steps in the 3D1 process—and from knowing that the Holy Spirit and the rest of the church has their back at every turn.

As a result, your church will awaken a deep passion for reaching their friends and family who are far from God—and you’ll see them motivated like never before.

3. Building a lasting “culture of evangelism”

What happens next is critical:

As exciting as it is, this newfound energy and enthusiasm your church has for reaching your community will falter unless you put the right systems and support structures in place to keep the intensity high.

That’s what phase 3 of the OneLife program will do.

In this phase, you’ll see a lasting shift in the DNA of your church.

You’ll create a culture where evangelism is “the norm”—where members are constantly sharing ideas, telling stories, and celebrating what God is doing in the lives of their non-Christian friends and family.

And as new members join your church, they’ll quickly catch the vision and begin implementing 3D1 in their circles of influence too.

One of the critical keys to making all of this happen is small groups.

Most churches already have an existing small group structure for members, and the OneLife program plugs right in.

It all starts with identifying a “3D1 Champion” for each group—these are hyper-passionate individuals who agree to lead the group through prayer, coaching, and providing “gentle accountability” by staying up with each member’s efforts to put 3D1 into practice. This ongoing accountability keeps the 3D1 approach at the forefront of each member’s mind—creating long-term habits and making evangelism a natural part of their daily lives.

The 3D1 Champions play another important role: They listen for stories about the work God is doing through your members. By sharing these stories with the whole church, you reinforce for everyone how evangelism is an integral part of the Christian life and how simple and doable the 3D1 process is.

As the groups grow and become more confident, the next step is to identify members who are interested in launching their own Spiritual Discovery Groups.

Spiritual Discovery Groups are small groups that are specifically designed to help non-Christians explore spiritual matters in a setting that is open and inviting and where they can ask difficult questions without fear of judgment. These groups typically meet outside the church, and may include 8-10 non-Christians and two Christian leaders.

This safe environment gives non-Christians a place to share their stories and to examine their beliefs and the claims of the Bible. They develop genuine friendships with the group leaders and with the other members in their group, and as they see their new friends begin to cross the line of faith one by one, they find themselves drawn to do the same.

These Spiritual Discovery Groups are extremely effective. In a study commissioned by OneLife founder Garry Poole and nationally known author and apologist Lee Strobel, more than 80% of non-Christians who regularly attended a Spiritual Discovery Group eventually gave their life to Christ.

As more and more of the non-Christians in your churches Spiritual Discovery groups make that decision, you’ll find that they naturally transition into New Believer groups to nurture their newfound faith—and those groups will soon be ready to start their own Spiritual Discovery groups.

Groups spin off groups—it becomes viral.

And your church becomes a growing, powerful source of spiritual influence in your community for years to come.

Is Your Church Ready for OneLife?

What are the benefits of working with OneLife?

  • Gives your members the tools to do what they already WANT to do—they want to reach the non-Christians in their lives, but feel powerless and unprepared
  • Redefines your church’s perception of evangelism from “scary, confrontational, best-left- to-the-professionals” to “Hey, this is MY opportunity, and I know I can do this.”
  • Excitement builds as your members watch their friends and family crossing the line of faith—once they experience the joy of seeing God use them to change a life, they’ll be hooked
  • Produces a lasting, sustainable “culture of evangelism” in your church—as new members join, they quickly catch the vision and begin sharing their faith
  • No more “evangelism guilt”—everyone participates, from senior leadership to the newest members
  • Begins at the top by training senior staff how to model effective personal evangelism and “lead from the front”
  • Stories inspire your members and keep the momentum building
  • Clear, step-by-step roadmap for implementing this with your church, with hands on coaching and support—you’ll never wonder “so what do I do next?”

How is 3D1 and OneLife different?

What it is NOT:

  • This is NOT a new way to “do church” that requires you to blow everything up and start over with a new worship model. OneLife works with ANY worship style, from traditional to contemporary. It leverages your current programs and and amplifies your church’s strengths.
  • This is NOT a short-term, one-and-done program or outreach event. OneLife creates an enduring “culture of evangelism” that permeates every action your church takes and reorients you toward reaching those far from God.
  • This is NOT a “sheep stealing” church growth program that merely attracts Christians from other churches. OneLife churches DO experience growth as the members intentionally build relationships with non-Christians and welcome them into the church.
  • This is NOT a transactional approach that treats non-Christians as “projects” or paints a bullseye on their back. OneLife encourages Christians to build authentic relationships and treat their non-Christian friends and family with respect.
  • This is NOT a training program for scripted “spiritual salesmanship,” designed to quickly back non-Christians into a corner and pressure them to make a “decision” for Christ. The OneLife approach is patient, caring and long term, and it brings about true, lasting heart change.
  • This is NOT reliant on outgoing, magnetic personalities, or the gift of evangelism. 95% of Christians are not gifted evangelists. Many consider themselves introverts. 3D1 can work for anyone who is open to developing friendships and having honest, caring conversations with others. No special qualifications or magic ingredients required.
  • This is NOT built on the outdated assumption that most people are biblically literate and just waiting for the right invitation to come to church. 3D1 was created from the ground up as a way to reach people with little or no church background, and who may have been turned off by misguided attempts to “convert” them in the past.
  • This is NOT a confrontational, unnatural approach that depends on complicated scripting and deep apologetics training to combat every possible argument or objection a non-Christian might raise.
  • This is NOT a fluffy “motivational” program that gets you all fired up… but leaves you fuzzy on the details of how to get started. OneLife is a detailed, step-by-step strategy for infusing evangelism know-how and motivation into the DNA of your church.

Is your church ready for 3D1 and the OneLife program?

3D1 and the OneLife program is not a quick fix or a “one-and-done” sermon series—it’s a permanent shift in the DNA of your church that requires a minimum of 12 months to fully implement.

And a change like this is only possible if the senior leadership of your church is “all in.”

Every member of your senior leadership must be passionate about sharing the gospel and committed to embedding personal, friendship-based evangelism into every facet of your church’s ministry.

To see if your church is ready for the full OneLife program, the first step is to schedule an Evangelism Temperature Evaluation with a OneLife senior coach.

This no-cost evaluation will gauge the readiness of your senior leadership and church members to embrace 3D1 and follow through on the step-by-step coaching and training you’ll receive in the OneLife program.

Availability of these evaluations is on a first-come, first-served basis.
